My approach
Relationships are an integral part of life and of wellbeing. I’ve been working in my communities doing activism and advocacy work for 15 years and have worked as an individual therapist for almost 10 years. Every person that I work with is part of a larger community, as well as broader macro level systems they cannot be extricated from. eOur wellbeing is intertwined. Oftentimes I work with clients who have trauma histories that continue to impact their ability to be present and build connection and joy in their lives. Whether someone struggles to make connections with others or struggles to identify and advocate for their own needs, I love working with clients to understand how their experiences continue to impact them in their daily lives. An integral piece of this work is connecting physical symptoms to emotional experiences. I have long been interested in the ways that somatic experiences reflect trauma and stressors and am excited to have completed training for Level 1 accreditation in Sensorimotor Therapy. I'm passionate about integrating somatic awareness and integration into healing processes.
I work well with clients who want to learn some short-term coping tools to implement as we do a deeper exploration of underlying issues. I use a strengths-based approach to focus on what is working well as we identify and strive to change what is not working. We also discuss the role of acceptance as we work on implementing changes. Many of the clients I work with struggle with shame and are looking to practice more self-compassion, which can often be a difficult task. I provide grounding and encouragement throughout this process. Therapy can be inherently emotionally draining but I find that there's often room for joy and laughter along the way. I strongly believe that human connection is an integral piece of the healing process.
I work with adults across the lifespan. As a member of the queer community, I frequently work with queer folx and am affirming of trans and non-binary people. I respect all individuals and constantly strive to offer a safe and non-judgmental environment. I frequently work with clients who are neurodiverse. I also have experience working with cooccurring medical complexity, including medical trauma.
For telehealth services, I provide HIPPA-compliant telehealth services.
I am seeing a few clients in person, per limited office space availability.
